Rhythm Kids – Music Class for Children

Rhythm Kids – Fun Music class  (3-7 years old)

The Kerikeri School Of Music is resuming its popular ‘Rhythm Kids’ class, introducing children from 3 to 7 years old to the delights of music.

Utilising mostly percussion instruments easily played by children, our tutor, Alison Lawless, leads the children on a voyage of discovery in the wonderful world of music. Combining simple exercises and games with a general music-appreciation approach, learning becomes fun while the kids’ understanding and competence grow at an easy pace. Many of the young people who have been involved with these classes have gone on to begin the study of other instruments (piano, guitar, voice, clarinet, sax, etc), as their physical and mental development progresses

The classes are kept small enough to allow all the children to have plenty of opportunities to play different basic percussion instruments (and use their voices!) and interact with each other. The length of the sessions, 45 minutes, has been found to fit well with their energy and concentration spans.
