Interactive Pre-Instrumental Class (3-7 years old) -  Introduction to Music

1. Theory: introducing notes / notationRhythm, notation
       Concepts of pitch, volume (i.e. sound)
       Objective: to learn and recognize basic music notation
2. Rhythm: playing and keeping time with music using percussion instruments; clapping, conducting musical games
       Objective: to keep in time
3. Musical Instruments: introduction to the different families of instruments; strings, woodwind, brass, percussion
       Objective: to recognize different instruments
4. Playing a musical instrument: on percussion instruments only; involving listening skill, co-ordination, developing an ear for music, group skill (as a member of a group, learning to be a member of a class)
       Objective: to play music

Guitar for beginners -  COST $160 (10 weeks term)

JUNIOR class (8-12yrs)   Tue 4.45pm-5.15pm 

SENIOR class (13-18)   Tue (time to be decided)

The Kerikeri School of Music is resuming its popular ‘Guitar for beginner’ classes. They are ideal for raw beginners. The lessons focus on learning good technique, while having fun and enjoying the experience.

1) Right hand technique

2) Basic Chords building

3) Strumming and Rhythm

4) Introduction to Scales and Keys

5) Guitar tuning

6) Body posture and finger placement

Singing Class for kids –   COST $160 (10 weeks term)

JUNIOR class (5-10yrs) FRID 3.15-4.00pm  

SENIOR class (11-18yrs) FRID 4.00-4.45pm

CHILDREN LOVE TO SING! Singing is great for developing musicality, strengthening the breath, and building performance confidence. It’s also lots of fun! Your kids will:
-learn correct singing technique
-build musical skills
-develop their musical ear (aural skills)
-benefit from the support of singing with others
-build confidence and develop performance skills
-enjoy learning through quick-paced, age-appropriate activities
-study a range of song styles including traditional and pop–suggestions are always considered!

Classes will be split into age groups if enrolment is high enough.

Singing class (ADULT)…Monday 7.00-7.45pm COST $120 (per term)

We are looking to start a Monday evening adult class course

We will study all aspects of the voice, including:

• breathing technique
• breath support
• melody and harmony
• pop music, classical, and everything in between!
